This term children from Robin Hall nursery have been participating in an initiative called ‘forest school sessions’.
Forest School aims to raise self-awareness and self-esteem in the children, through learning regularly in a woodland or any outdoor environment.
Wrapped up nice and warm, the children are really enjoying connecting with nature, which in turn has helped them become more confident outdoors.
This week, they have been learning about colour, shade, texture, and objects and used natural objects like sticks and wood to construct small houses.
Over the six week programme, which is funded by Edmonton Community Partnership, they will also develop a range of important teamwork and independence skills.
Melissa from Twiggles Explorers who leads the sessions at Robin Hall was really impressed with the children and said: “It’s a pleasure to work with the children and watch them grow in confidence outdoors”.
